A recent survey by Telecom IQ with Telcos revealed that 86.5 percent of operators polled felt that data placed the most stress on their network. Voice came in as the number two cause of stress for the network but only accounted for 40.5 percent of the votes in the survey. Download the complete survey results.
Zahid Shaukat, Transmission Planning Team Leader for Orascom Telecom Mobilink, explains that with the increase in data traffic and network technology, the shift will be from 2G to 3G and LTE. It is becoming necessary to build a robust network road map which can support traffic requirements and a smooth network evolution.
But with data traffic increasing at an alarming rate, what can Telcos do to limit the stress placed on their networks?
